God Hears a Mother's Cry of the Heart

"The righteous cry out and the Lord hears them; He delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." Psalm 34:17-18

Rosalie's heart was broken. Her son was in prison and she had no way to visit him. She doesn't drive and was unable to find anyone to take her to see him. Michael had been arrested for not appearing in court. When he was arraigned they asked for a bail amount that Rosalie was unable to post. All she wanted was to see him and let him know he was loved and that everyone was praying for him.

Rosalie cried out to God daily, not for Michael's release, but for a way she could go and visit him. He was all alone and getting more depressed by the day. She prayed that God would show Michael how much He loved him and that He wanted him to turn his life over to Him. She knew that was a choice only Michael could make with God alone.

Rosalie's greatest desire at the time was to see Michael and bring to him the items that he needed. Day after day she cried out to the Lord and asked others to pray for her. Just when she thought all hope was lost, the phone rang. God answered her prayers. The voice on the other end of the line was Michael. He told her that there was a man in the prison who received visits from his mom daily and his mom just happened to live very close to Rosalie. Michael said this other person said he was certain his mom would not mind bringing Rosalie along with her on her daily trips to the prison.

Praise the Lord! Not only did He answer Rosalie's prayer but He did it through a prison wall and not only did He send a ride, He also gave her a new friend.

The first day Rosalie met Gloria, she knew the Lord had sent her. Gloria shared with Rosalie that her husband had died just six weeks before and that she was very lonely and wanted someone to talk to. Gloria and Rosalie went daily to the prison and even after Gloria's son was released, Gloria continued to take Rosalie. Rosalie learned that this new friendship would bless both of them and others. Before you knew it Gloria was picking up other women found walking to and from the prison.

Michael was sentenced to spend more time in jail and Rosalie again began to pray. The holidays were coming and she prayed the Lord would send him home. The thought of her son being there for the holidays broke her heart. I don't know a mother whose heart it wouldn't break. One night at midnight just before the holidays there was a knock on the door. Rosalie jumped out of bed and wondered who could be at her door at this time of night. She opened the door and there stood Michael. She stood in total awe and behind Michael she saw Gloria standing there. Some papers were found by the officials stating Michael should have been released already. So they came and told him he was free to go and knowing he had no transportation he called Gloria and they decided together that they would surprise Rosalie and Tom. And surprise they did. Rosalie was in awe of God and all that he had done to bring her son home when she least expected it. Michael is married now and is on the road to Jesus. Rosalie and Gloria are still friends and have learned to be there for each other whenever needed. Gloria even drove Rosalie to Florida from New York so that she could visit me. What a blessing that was!
