This poem was written by Pat Couchman taken from a vision that a friend had. She shared the vision with me and asked me to put it into a poem. I pray you will be blessed and that you will truly know that with God the past is the past. Muddy Footprints
by Pat Couchman

Muddy footprints were left behind me on the floor
As I ran toward my Lord Jesus as He opened the door
I started to look behind me and oh the sight I did see
There was my Lord Jesus cleaning my mud on His knees

He was washing away all the sin that was behind me
As He filled me with all His lovingkindness and mercy
I looked over to my mom who was standing close by
I know she must have seen the tears flowing from my eyes

I asked my mom did you see my Jesus standing here?
But she didn't know that my Jesus was so very near
I looked back again expecting Lord Jesus to see
But He was not there on the floor on His knees

My muddy footprints were all gone all swept away
To the sea of forgetfulness He put them even to this day.
His sacrifice of love He gave when He shed His blood
Had washed away my dirty footprints covered in mud

Now He shod my feet with His wonderful gospel of peace
And so I share His good news with you that you too can be free
Run through His door forgetting those sins from the past
For He has swept them all away the moment you asked

Don't turn back and look again at what has been swept away
Instead go forth in Him in His power and might each new day
For the door before you is open full of grace, mercy and love
And in Him you can be seated in heavenly places above

For He is the One Who is faithful and will keep you every day.
For He has promised to abide in You if in Him you will stay
Lord Jesus we give you honor and praise with all of our hearts
For you swept our sins away and healed all the broken parts

We look ahead now Lord as we daily seek to do Your will
And in Your love we will rest and let our hearts be still
For there is not another who could wash the dirt away
From all the muddy footprints left on the floor that day.
Never to look back again on the mud that was on the floor
Only to go forward in You and run through Your open door.
