A Love Story On January 13, 1946 Rosalie and Tom spoke these words:
They had met just six days earlier when Rosalie's brother John bought Tom home with him on leave from the Navy. Their dates consisted of sitting on the front porch of Rosalie's home. Tom was due to go back to the ship and refused to leave without her being his wife. Her father gave his blessing, plans were made and in a few days a beautiful wedding was held. Rosalie and Tom shared this kind of love. Their marriage withstood all the trials of life because it was grounded in the love of God. A few days after the service we opened Tom's Bible and found a note in it that said,
We don't know when he wrote this but the day we found it the tears started to flow in her eyes, it was the last love letter from him and she holds it close to her heart knowing she will see him again in heaven. Jesus has left us a love letter. It is His Word. It is the most beautiful love letter ever written and one we can all hold close in our hearts. He is love and to know Him is to know love. Rosalie and Tom could not have walked through all the trials of life without His love. Their love letters to each other will be cherished in this lifetime. The love letter that prevails in our hearts today is the one that we will take with us into eternity. From Genesis to Revelations you will find words of love, words of comfort, words of strength and words of hope. You will find a father, a husband, a brother, a friend and a lover.
