Where Are You Looking?

In the Old Testament we read how Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt. After they had crossed the Red Sea and as they were wandering around in the wilderness they complained against God because the food He had given them wasn't enough for them.
In the Book of Numbers the 21st Chapter verses 4-9 the following takes place.

"Then they journeyed from Mount Hor by the Way of the Red Sea, to go around the land of Edom, and the soul of the people became very discouraged on the way. And the people spoke against God and against Moses:
"Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no food and no water and our soul loathes this worthless bread."
So the Lord sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people, and many of the people of Israel died. Therefore the people came to Moses and said:
"We have sinned for we have spoken against the Lord, and against you, pray to the Lord that He take away the serpents from us."
So Moses prayed for the people. Then the Lord said to Moses:
"Make a fiery serpent, and set it on a pole; and it shall be that everyone who is bitten, when he looks at it, shall live."
So Moses made a bronze serpent and put in on a pole; and so it was, if a serpent had bitten anyone, when he looked at the bronze serpent, he lived."

In the Gospel of John the 3rd Chapter verses 14-15 we read the following:

"And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life."

My question to you today is:
" Where are you looking?"

We have all been in the place of the Israelites.

We have all complained against God when things get rough in our lives.
There are things that happen in this life that we may never understand until we get to heaven.

God is a good God.

He provided for the Israelites, He parted the Red Sea for them, they left Egypt with a lot of possessions and yet they still doubted Him every time a problem arose. It seemed no matter what He did for them it was never enough and they would turn away from Him.

I know there are times like this in my life when I forget the most important act of God was letting His Son die on a cross so that I might have eternal life. He let Jesus shed His blood on a cross for the forgiveness of sins for the world, for the whole world. We are already forgiven, we just need to receive it and receive Him as Savior.
I know the reality of God yet there still are days I become discouraged and forget all the wonderful things He has done in my life. He pulled me out of the pit of depression and kept me from suicide. He has carried me through many lonely nights and He has blessed me with many wonderful friends. Yet there are those days when I get discouraged and start to complain.
God in His infinite mercy reminds me of the cross. I just need to look to Jesus the One who died for me and for you to comfort my soul and heal the wounded parts of my life. Jesus said:

"No man comes to the Father but through me."

Jesus is the only way my friends. No one else can save you. No one else has paid the price necessary for you to enter into His Kingdom. Will you look to Him today? He was lifted up on a cross and was crucified for us. Jesus is the One who said:

"That whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not die but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved." (John 15-17)

When you begin to look for answers I pray you will look to Jesus.
